CHARACTER GENERATION:
Character generation takes place in the chapel of House Baenre, where
an altar is surrounded by eight burning braziers. One brazier at a
time, the process of creating your characters begins. After each
Player Character characteristic is chosen, the view circles around the
scene to the next brazier.
Select Sex:
In the first brazier, two figures appear, one representing a male
character and one representing a female character. Left-click on the
appropriate figure to choose the sex of your character. Your selection
is displayed near the bottom of the screen.

The scene circles to the next brazier and a candle melts to reveal six
race icons. The choices are: human, gnome, dwarf, elf, half-elf, and
halfling. Left-click on the appropriate icon to choose the race of
your character. Your selection is displayed near the bottom of the
screen.
Select Alignment:
In this brazier a tower representing the various alignments appears.
Left-clicking over the choices displayed near the top and bottom of
the tower causes the tower to rotate, displaying a new choice. The
choices are: lawful good, lawful neutral, chaotic good, chaotic
neutral, neutral good, and true neutral. Your choice may be limited by
certain class restrictions. Your selection is displayed near the
bottom of the screen.

desired alignment, move the cursor to the bottom center of the screen
over the word SELECT. Left-click over SELECT to choose the alignment
shown in the brazier. Your selection is displayed near the bottom of
the screen.

character are displayed, along with the selection MORE at the top of
the screen. Left-clicking on MORE displays more available portraits.

character. Your selection is displayed near the bottom of the screen.
Select Hit Points and Attributes:
In the next brazier, the character's Hit Points appear, along with the
various character attributes.

Hit Points and Attributes.
[Shift to MIN/MAX]: By pressing and holding the Shift key, then

appropriate Attributes dice, the number of your choice automatically
goes to its maximum possible value. By pressing and holding the Shift

the screen.

Names may be up to twelve characters in length. Hit the Return-key
when you have completed typing your character's name.
If, when you press the Return-key, the character generator does not
continue, you have either typed in an empty name or a name of one
of the characters you will meet during your adventure. Please
re-type a new name for your character.
Keep or Delete:
At this point all the pertinent information about the character is
known. Left-clicking on the word KEEP saves the character information
generated and you are automatically returned to the first brazier to
begin the process over again, this time in order to generate the
second character necessary to start the game. Selecting DELETE returns
you to the first stage to begin the generation again.
Using the Escape Key:
During the character generation process, pressing the Escape-key
returns you to the character generation step previous to the one
currently displayed. For example, pressing the Escape-key while
choosing character Alignment returns you to the beginning of the
sequence for selecting the character's Class.
Pressing the Escape-key during the cinematic leading to a selection
step will take you to the selection step.
